Orphan cookbooks
Imagine my surprise to find a large bag and box on my porch filled with old cookbooks and recipes. I took them to the Cavalcade Cookbook Library and thought I'd share what I found as I finally emptied the contents. Turns out this wonderful assortment of cookbooks, appliance manuals, recipe clippings, and pamphlets was a gift from my friends Cam and Denise. Many of the recipes featured on Cavalcade of Food over the years come from sources such as this. These books and recipes represent someone's own library where they look for ideas on how to feed their family, try something new, or cook for a special occasion. To me, these are priceless artifacts that represent an era of American cuisine. These wonderful donations will find a new place in the archives.
