OU Research & Societal Impact Showcase 2023: Sam Shaw – Art and ecology project
Dr. Sam Shaw is an OU art historian who draws connections between art history and the natural sciences.
He created the Open Societal Challenge: Art & Ecology project which involves bringing together objects from various art collections to have a conversation about the climate crisis.

OU's Open Societal Challenges program aims to address some of the most important societal challenges of our time through impact-driven research.​

The program's emphasis on themes of addressing inequality, living well, and sustainability aligns well with OU's mission to be open to people, places, methods, and ideas.​

The aim of the program is to apply the excellent research carried out by OU academics to some of the most pressing challenges facing citizens in the UK and around the world in order to transform lives and drive change societal.​
