The Silent Patient is a chilling psychological thriller about a woman who commits domestic violence against her husband and a therapist who is fascinated by the idea of understanding why.
Alicia Berenson's life seems ideal. She lives in a large house with large windows overlooking a park in one of London's most desirable areas, where she is a famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer. One evening, when her husband Gabriel comes home late from a fashion photo shoot, Alicia shoots him five times in the face and never speaks to him again.
Alicia's inability to speak or provide any type of explanation elevates a private tragedy to something much greater, a mystery that captures the public imagination and elevates Alicia to celebrity status. The value of her art soars and she, the silent patient, is isolated from the tabloids and spotlight in the Grove, a secure forensic facility in north London.
