Royal Wedding Woes: The Untold Story of Philip and Elizabeth’s Concerns #shorts

In Ingrid Seward’s new book, /”My Mother And I,/” which primarily explores the relationship between King Charles and Queen Elizabeth II, the initial excerpts unexpectedly delve into the dynamics of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This trend follows the recent pattern of royal biographers offering revised accounts of the royal family. According to Seward’s book, Prince Philip harbored reservations about Meghan Markle right from their first meeting, drawing parallels between her and Wallis Simpson, the American divorcee who played a pivotal role in King Edward VIII’s abdication. Despite the Queen’s warm reception of Meghan and her high hopes for the couple’s contributions to the Commonwealth, Prince Philip remained cautious and referred to Meghan as the /”Duchess of Windsor./”

While Queen Elizabeth II refrained from publicly expressing her thoughts about Meghan Markle, she did share a few private remarks with trusted confidantes, including Lady Elizabeth Anson. The Queen found Meghan’s Givenchy wedding gown /”too white/” for a divorced woman remarrying in a church. Additionally, she had reservations about Prince Charles substituting for Meghan’s father and Prince Philip walking down the aisle without a walking stick shortly after hip surgery. During the wedding ceremony, the Queen and Prince Philip visibly displayed discomfort with the extended sermon delivered by American Archbishop Michael Curry.

The revelations in Seward’s book are expected to generate controversy, with critics attempting to portray Prince Philip’s initial skepticism of Meghan as indicative of broader issues within the royal family. However, it is worth noting that the comparisons made between Meghan and Wallis Simpson lack substantial evidence, and Prince Philip’s physical condition at the time may have limited his ability to form a strong negative opinion of Harry’s bride.
