First of all, a fairy tale about found objects, against all odds. Helle and David have come from Wiltshire to seek help from goldsmith Richard Talman, with a mission that could prove their most difficult yet. The diamond and sapphire engagement ring was David's great-grandmother's first prized possession and has been passed down through three generations of marriages. Helle was devastated when the item simply fell off her finger and disappeared and despite their best efforts, they couldn't find it. Until, by pure chance, more than a year later, it was seen glistening in the gravel driveway! It's twisted beyond belief, two of the gemstones have fallen out and the couple fear it can't be saved. Richard must have nerves of steel to carefully reshape the ring and its backings, then snap the wayward gemstones back into place, without causing further damage to this incredibly fragile piece. Love is definitely in the air when Helle and David return to claim this breathtakingly beautiful heirloom. Metal expert Dominic Chinea has his feathers ruffled as he is tested by the oldest object he has ever worked on… a 200-year-old church weather vane. It is delivered by Father Lesie Drake from Benfleet in Essex. The rather mutilated metal rooster was blown off the church roof by a biblical storm and is missed by the local community. Dom soon discovers that every part of this majestic creature needs attention…much of the ironwork has eroded and crumbling and the post supporting it is not up to the task. Dom reproduces the sections that are too far away and preserves the rest. He was sent back to Benfleet, resplendent, greeted by the enthusiastic congregation of St Mary's Church. And Paul Flynn hopes leather expert Susie Fletcher can restore a memory of summers spent as a boy, visiting family in the Irish countryside. His Uncle Bob was a magician when it came to fly fishing and the teenage Paul was in awe of him. Bob left his trusty leather fishing bait wallet, passed down through generations, to his nephew. The wallet is dried out, tattered and too delicate to handle the rigors of the river, but Paul would love to use it again, if Susie can help him. Susie does not disappoint and the wallet comes back to life.
