The author of Jacksonland and Imperfect Union joins us to discuss his just-published book on Abraham Lincoln and his political era. In this fresh and captivating story, rich in detail and illuminating commentary, Steve Inskeep broadens our understanding of the great politician, a man guided by his moral compass, but also by his priorities. It shows how many of Lincoln's greatest deeds grew out of his interactions with people who disagreed with him.
Following Inskeep's discussion of Lincoln and his new book, he engages in a lengthy conversation and QA session with Ryan Woods and Catherine Allgor about his story-writing process and the importance of such a narration.
