Stirling Roundel Test – words and music Bill Taylor
Bill Taylor shows how the chords of a piece of music are coded as a series of 1s and 0s etched into the edge of a wooden roundel. This is a binary code from the 16th century. I recorded Bill live at Andy Lowings' concert at Northborough Church in September 2009, and the footage is pieced together from stills – as an experiment to convey how this music is decoded.

Technical:

Audio: Zoom H4n
Audio production: Adobe Audition / iZotope noise reduction
VIDEO: jpegs / animations in SwishMax 2 / final audio-video synchronization in Sony Vegas
