Sucker Punch: The hard left hook that stunned Ali Jack Cashill
Jack Cashill talks about his book "Sucker Punch: The Hard Left Hook that Dazed Ali and Killed King's Dream", published by Nelson Current.

Mr. Cashill describes the life of boxer Muhammad Ali and asks why America considers him a hero. He said biographies of Ali by Joyce Carol Oates and Toni Morrison contain exaggerations regarding the deprivations he experienced as a child as well as his experiences as a Muslim.

It talks about the effects Ali's relationship with Islam had on the civil rights movement and Dr. Martin Luther King's dream of equality. Mr Cashill also compared Ali's life to that of other champion boxers of his era. He answers questions from spectators.

This event took place at the Helzberg Auditorium of the Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library. It was hosted by Rainy Day Books.

This author's event aired on C-Span on February 15, 2006. Mr. Cashill was introduced by Vivien Jennings, founder of Rainy Day Books.
