This episode covers the reigns of Henry VIII's three children, Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I. It follows Edward's approach to church reform and his early death as well as Mary's attempt to undo this with the help of her husband, King Philip II of Spain. After Mary's death, Elizabeth took over and put England back on the path of Protestantism and helping others, which annoyed Philip who then started the Spanish Armada. The armada failed, leaving Elizabeth to consolidate her reign which saw the flowering of the English Renaissance and her failure to find an heir which ended her dynasty, beginning the rule of the House of Stuart.

Recommended books:

John Guy, "Tudor England" – A very detailed introductory book which covers all the Tudors and particularly focuses on Henry VIII. Also gives a good overview of the legal intrigues.

Robert Titler and Norman Jones (eds.), A Companion to Tudor Britain – Much more detailed thematic book (ideal for undergraduates) which focuses more on religious, social and economic changes than political ones. Also contains good details regarding Wales and Scotland.

(Same books as the last episode but they are both awesome)

Ten Minute English and British History is a series of short ten-minute animated narrative documentaries designed as revision reminders or simple introductions to a subject. Please note that these are not meant to be exhaustive and there are many things that I was not able to fit into the episodes that I would have liked to have included. Thanks for watching, though, it's always appreciated.
