Synopsis: Elliot Jaspin shares his views on the system of white supremacy. A white man, Jaspin is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of Buried In The Bitter Waters: The Hidden History of Racial Cleansing In America.
Elliot Jaspin's work chronicles the shameful and intentional elimination/expulsion of black people throughout the region of the world known as the United States. He explicitly points out that victims of white supremacy do not belong to a community. They can therefore be dropped at any time. This extremely important text provides comprehensive evidence that whites carried out more than 260 terrorist purges against black American citizens. Rosewood, Florida (1923); Wilmington North Carolina (1898); Forsyth, Georgia (1912); and Tulsa, Oklahoma (1921) are simply the best known of these white pillaging rituals. The following excerpt is from page 61 of the book: “What followed was an orgy of violence. On May 17 [1918], two black people were randomly arrested by a mob and literally torn to pieces.
An estimated 700 bullets were fired at them. The next day, Hayes Turner, suspected of being part of the black conspiracy, was lynched. His body left hanging for two days became a gruesome tourist attraction for local white people. Sidney Johnson was found in Valdosta and shot to death. When Turner's wife, Mary, threatened to find his killer and refuse arrest warrants, her "reckless remarks" turned into a death sentence.
The day after her husband's death, the mob grabbed Mary, eight months pregnant, hung her upside down from a tree, doused her in gasoline, set her on fire, then set her on fire. disemboweled and tore out the fetus. The baby let out a weak cry before a member of the crowd stomped him to death. Although the exact death toll will never be known, the mob murdered at least eleven people.
