The Disgusting Crimes of Johanna Bormann – The Woman with the Dog
Inside the concentration camps created during World War II and before by the Nazis, there were hundreds of guards who were incredibly violent and treated the prisoners terribly. Some of these guards were sentenced to death after the end of World War II following war crimes trials, and stories of their barbaric treatment emerged and shocked the world. One of the women who was executed by British executioner Albert Pierrepoint for her crimes against humanity was Johanna Bormann, known at Auschwitz as "The Woman with the Dog."

Bormann patrolled and monitored the prisoners at Auschwitz and later at Bergen-Belsen and she encouraged her dog to attack the prisoners. There were accounts of prisoners being brutally killed by Bormann and her dog, and she was also known to beat prisoners so violently that she knocked out their teeth. As the war turned against the Germans, she was transferred to Bergen-Belsen, a camp where conditions were appalling and it was here that Johanna Bormann was captured and arrested. In Belsen, there were illnesses and deaths on every corner, and Bormann, in the final days of the war, helped add to the suffering. Many of her crimes remain unknown today, and she is remembered as a horribly brutal and terrifying SS guard.
