Nightclub and stage star Jeannie Laird buys her first house, and everyone who comes to her first garden party is blinded by smoke coming from next door. Jeannie charges next door to yell at her new neighbor and meets comic book artist Bill Carter. Bill has devoted himself to his striptease and raising his ten-year-old son Joe since the death of his wife. Joe bases his strip on the daily happenings of him and his son and prides himself on keeping it scrupulously honest.
