DESCRIPTION OF CLIPS:
Henry (Macaulay Culkin) introduces Mark (Elijah Wood) to Mr. Highway, a homemade mannequin, which Henry drops from an overpass into oncoming traffic.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Macaulay Culkin attempts a change of pace as a schoolyard psychotic in The Good Son. When her 12-year-old son Mark (Elijah Wood) is by his mother's side as she dies of cancer, she makes him promise that she won't die. When she dies, Mark is consumed by grief, as well as guilt for not being able to keep his promise. Mark's father, Jack (David Morse), is scheduled to leave for a two-week business trip to Tokyo shortly after his wife's death. Thinking Maine's windy environment will do him good, he drops Mark off with his Uncle Wallace's (Daniel High Kelly) family. At first, Mark is withdrawn, but soon he begins to become closer to his aunt Susan (Wendy Crewson), his cousin Connie (Quinn Culkin) and especially his cousin Henry (Macauley Culkin). Mark and Henry are friends together, but Mark begins to notice that some of Henry's ideas about pleasure differ significantly from his own. For example, Henry demonstrates his homemade crossbow by killing the neighbor's dog and shows Mark his dummy (called /"Mr. Highway/") as it falls from an overpass onto a highway, causing a 10-year pileup. cars. Mark begins to suspect that the death of Henry's little brother was no accident, and it seems that Henry is now planning to erase his sister. But when Mark tries to warn Henry's parents about their son's murderous tendencies, they refuse to listen.
