The grandfather paradox: explained in simple words
The grandfather paradox is considered the most important and popular objection to the logical possibility of time travel. It characterizes a hypothetical situation in which a time traveler returns to his past and ends up causing an event (such as the murder of his grandfather) that makes traveling to the past and changing it impossible.
This means that if you go back in time and kill your grandfather, you don't exist, which means your grandfather can't be killed. As you can see, two realities are happening in parallel here. The grandfather paradox is also a key plot element of the famous Hollywood film Tenet (released in 2020), directed by Christopher Nolan.
While all this talk about time travel and the grandfather paradox is obviously purely hypothetical, there is evidence of two realities occurring in parallel at the same time. This is a phenomenon in the quantum world called superposition.
