The impact crater in Mexico that wiped out the dinosaurs; Chicxulub Crater
The largest impact crater on the planet to form in the last billion years is located on the Yucatan Peninsula. Known as the Chicxulub crater, it is 180 kilometers or 110 miles wide. Its formation caused the extinction of non-avian dinosaurs 66 million years ago, causing a long-term winter impact. Without this ancient event, the dominant life forms on the planet would still be giant reptiles. This video will discuss this massive impact crater and how it formed.
