The last duel with Eric Jager
Trial by combat has captured people's imaginations for centuries, which is exactly why it's the focus of Hollywood's latest medieval film: The Last Duel. This week on The Medieval Podcast, Danièle speaks with Eric Jager, author of the non-fiction book that inspired the film.
Eric Jager is a professor of English at UCLA, where his research focuses on Old English, Middle English, and medieval literature. In 2004, Eric published his book The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France. The story has now been made into a major film – The Last Duel – starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer.
