The Life of Buddha – as told by Carrie Grossman
/"The Life of Buddha/" is a magnificent and timeless book written by André Ferdinand Herold. Originally published in French in 1922, this magical tale tells the story of Prince Siddhartha who renounced a life of luxury and embarked on a journey to achieve enlightenment. The story is directly inspired by ancient texts (Buddhacarita, Lalitavistara and the Tales of Jataka) and offers an inspiring and intimate insight into the life of the Buddha.

This video is a very slow kaleidoscope of images, photographs and paintings collected from the public domain. The audio is what matters most and I highly recommend you lie back and let yourself be transported by it. Whether you listen to it for inspiration, relaxation, meditation, or simply to fall asleep, may these words spark your imagination, soothe your mind, and touch your heart.

Adapted, edited and narrated by Carrie Grossman. Original soundtrack by Pierre-André Rigoll.

All images in this video come from WikiCommons or Dreamstime. The magnificent South Asian paintings are from Edwin Binney's 3rd Collection of Indian Paintings, exhibited at the San Diego Museum of Art in 2018.

You can also listen to this story for free on the Insight Timer meditation app. Enjoy the journey.
