The London History Show: the Benin plaques
The London History Show: the Benin plaques
Hello everyone. We are currently exploring the British Museum, and this includes a lot of world cultures that were unfamiliar to me, such as that of the Kingdom of Benin. As such, I'm sure there are many good sources that are inaccessible to me or that I haven't found here during my lockdown in London. I've given my sources below, but if you have any others that give a different perspective, let me know.

On a related note, there are several words in this one that I've only seen written out, so if you know the pronunciations better than me, let me know in the comments. I'm already pretty sure I was wrong about Erediauwa.

In this video we look at pieces of African art stolen from the British Museum commonly known as the "Benin Bronzes".

In each episode of the London History Show, we'll look at a different statue, plaque, building or feature of the London landscape that you can discover for yourself, and tell its story. Watch the entire series here: https://tinyurl.com/ybzud2wm
