The team travel to the Yorkshire Dales to meet Chris and Barbara Bradley at their farm and discover the remains of a monastic barn – a medieval precursor to the great country house, with links to nearby Fountains Abbey. Kerry Ely is the site supervisor, and the team is joined by Jonathan Clarke (building archaeologist) and Mark Newman from the National Trust. Matt "volunteers" to live the harsh life of a medieval lay brother for 24 hours.
