The Murder of Tara Grinstead and the Conflicting Stories of Bo Dukes and Ryan Duke [True Crime]
On Monday, October 24, 2005, in Ocilla, Georgia, Tara Grinstead, a local beauty queen and high school history teacher, failed to show up for work in the morning. Concerned colleagues, unable to reach her, immediately called local authorities.

When local law enforcement arrived at her home, they initially found few signs that anything was wrong. However, a closer look suggests foul play. Tara's car was in the driveway and her cell phone was left on her nightstand, but her purse and keys were missing. There were possible signs of a struggle in his room but certainly nothing to suggest a fatal attack. However, a single latex glove was spotted in her yard, just 15 feet from Tara's front door. And the 30-year-old teacher was nowhere to be found.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation joined with Ocilla and County police departments to launch a missing person investigation turned murder investigation that would last more than 16 years. Thousands of tips were received and traced, so many in fact, that more than one very useful piece of information that would have led to Tara's murder was ignored for years.

Two individuals could potentially be at the center of the murder investigation; Bo Dukes and Ryan Duke. Local men who were best friends but unrelated. Each of these men would make confessions to the police regarding Tara's death, however, the stories would change and at least one of these men was almost certainly lying.

Two trials related to Tara Grinstead's case have taken place as of publication. The latest, that of Ryan Duke, ended on May 23, 2022.
