Following the events of Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza Corporation sent rescue ships to a newly colonized planet in peril, along with additional SecUnits. But if there is an ethical society, Murderbot hasn't found it yet, and if Barish-Estranza can't have the planet, they sure as heck won't leave without something. If it's just an entire colony of humans, well, free labor is a decent second prize.
But there's something wrong with Murderbot; it does not operate within normal operational parameters. The ART crew and Preservation humans are doing everything they can to protect the colonists, but with Barish-Estranza's SecUnit-heavy persuasion teams, they're going to have to hope that Murderbot figures out what's wrong with him, and quickly!
Yeah, this plan isn't going to work.
