THE STOLEN WEALTH OF SLAVERY: A CASE OF REPAIRS with David Montero and Dr. Christoph Mergerson

In this powerful and timely investigative story, The Stolen Wealth of Slavery, Emmy-nominated journalist David Montero traces the enormous wealth amassed by Northern corporations throughout the history of the slavery of America. It shows exactly what was stolen, who stole it, and who it is owed to, calling for reparations for corporations while detailing contemporary movements to hold corporations accountable for past atrocities.

This program is co-hosted with the Amistad Center for Art and Culture and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center.

About the author: David Montero is a journalist and producer. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Nation, Harvard Business Review, and more. He is the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships. His first book was Kickback: Exposing the Global Corporate Bribery Network.

About the moderator: Dr. Christoph Mergerson is an assistant professor at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland. His research interests include the history of journalism, race and the news media, and journalism and democracy.
