“The Thin Red Line” (1964) – Classic World War II Pacific combat film

Right after his marriage, Pvt. Doll (Keir Dullea) is sent to fight in World War II. Once there, he decides to do whatever it takes to survive the war, even ignoring orders. This attitude irritates his commanding officer, the tough veteran sergeant. Welsh (Jack Warden). After Doll first kills a Japanese soldier, he begins to become a violent fighter, responsible for many enemy deaths. Despite their differences, Welsh and Doll begin to work together to survive their mission.

Based on the novel /"The Thin Red Line/" by James Jones (New York, 1962) – It draws heavily on Jones' experiences at the Battle of Mount Austen, the Galloping Horse and the Seahorse during the Guadalcanal campaign during World War II. The author served in the U.S. Army's 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.
