According to Dr. Judy Ho, a triple board certified neuropsychologist, acceptance and commitment therapy is about "developing psychological flexibility through six skill areas that you can tap into whenever you encounter a problem."

The goal of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is to increase psychological flexibility, or the ability to enter more fully into the present moment, and to change or persist in a behavior as long as it serves your values.

So how does it work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is divided into six modules:
1 – Acceptance
2 – Cognitive Defusion
3 – Be present
4 – The Self as Context
5 – Values
6 – Action taken

If you are passionate about self-discovery, self-improvement and creating a better relationship with "you", then this simulated therapy session is for you. After experiencing what an ACT session is like, you will understand how to (and be motivated to) travel the research-backed path of self-discovery that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy offers.

What to expect during the mock session:
Dr. Judy will guide Kyle through an ACT exercise to discover how his cognitive distortions and deep-rooted thoughts impact his self-perception and self-esteem. All of this plays a role in his current behavior. You will be able to easily “insert” a challenge into your own life – and tackle it – as the session progresses.
