In 1876, Duncan MacDonald joined the new 300-member Mounted Police in Western Canada, just in time for a dangerous mission. It appears that Cree Indians, during a raid across the Montana border, took two hostages to bring them safely back to Canada. But MacDonald, with only the help of the scout Natayo, will need all his diplomacy and even a little more to extract the captives from among a thousand Crees.
