Ukraine signals Russian ground invasion in Kharkiv DW News

Ukraine says Russia has launched a new ground offensive on the country's northeastern border, advancing about a kilometer into Ukraine's interior. Authorities say there was massive shelling in the town of Vovchansk, near the city of Kharkiv. Ukraine has dispatched reinforcements to the region to strengthen its local defenses. Ukrainian forces are evacuating residents and at least one civilian has been killed in the bombings. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksyy said the army had anticipated the attack and that a "fierce battle" was underway.
