Val McDermid, one of the most famous names in crime writing, has sold approximately twenty million books worldwide today.

Her new paperback 'Past Lying' is the seventh in her series of novels featuring police detective Karen Pirie – a character who was played by actress Lauren Lyle in the STV drama series.

Val spoke to John Mackay about his writing process.
