Vintage Better Homes and Gardens Cook Books – Classic American Cooking

When we think of iconic American cookbooks, the one that always comes to mind is the classic red and white Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. Published since 1930, more than 34 million copies have been sold. When the BH&G cookbook was introduced, it was a new idea in cookbooks. Use a binder that would lay flat on a counter, with tabs that would easily take the cook to the right section, with helpful tips on meal planning, nutrition, setting a pretty table, all included. Here we look at some examples from the Cavalcade Library of this classic cookbook. This is a book that has taught many people the basics of cooking and baking.
