So, even at Humans of Bombay, when this question arose, we decided to look for the answers in the nooks and crannies of our city. And upon closer inspection, we witnessed history in the making: Virar held its first ever pride parade this year!
The streets were filled with people dressed in colors, dancing to the sound of freedom. We saw loving couples, parents coming to support their children from the community, and even a 3-year-old standing behind her gay uncle and cheering him on. And that's when all the answers dawned on us: love is what we all crave! Love is something we can all find within ourselves. And what does it look like? Well, it's as simple as a smile on a 3 year old's face when he sees his uncle dancing, a hug from a friend when you come out to him or just having your parents there. sides in the most difficult phase of your life. !
But amidst all the laughter, joy and fun, we also saw a group of people coming there, hiding from their loved ones. When we asked them, “What is still keeping you in the closet?” They said, “The weight of the closet lock is too heavy and we don’t have the heart to find the key!” This left us with another question…if love is what we all crave, then why don't we give everyone the freedom to love in their own way?
