Welcome to the first finished spaces of our very first Studio McGee designed home. We are happy to show you around the living room, dining room and office. Starting with the entryway, “I wanted it to look like oak,” Shea says. Given the price of oak, Shea opted for alder wood, which mimics a natural oak with a custom stain. “Work with the contractor,” advises Shea, to find out what materials they have access to and how you can achieve the look you want without going over budget.

In the living room, you are greeted by stunning double-beam vaulted ceilings, a design element that caused ripples in Shea's design plan. With two other stain finishes visible in the space, Shea chose to match the wood on the ceiling to the kitchen cabinets. The fireplace features the same limestone you'll find outside the house. Rich grout is a good way to add character and a sense of history to new construction.
