"Here There Be Mermaids" is the first single from the new album by the duo Mars Smith – with Daniela Mars (flute) and Paul Smith (piano). The single features Lyyra, the new US-based female ensemble created by the VOCES8 Foundation. The track was recorded and filmed at the VOCES8 Center in London in early 2024.
“Here There Are Mermaids” is based on an ancient myth from the Faroe Islands, and in particular from the island of Kalsoy. This is the first single from a new cinematic album by Mars Smith which was written and filmed during a trip to the Faroe Islands to explore the extraordinary natural beauty and folklore of the islands during the winter of 2023. The album will be released in installments throughout 2024.
