In 2009, the British finally had enough of being dominated by the aristocracy. The government has delivered the final blow to the hereditary peerage, by expelling them from these hallowed halls: the House of Lords. Add to that the high cost of living in a stately home, and your lord and lady's days were numbered. But as history has shown us, you can't keep a true blue blood. The landed gentry was ready to fight one last battle to stay relevant.
