What Frantz Fanon can tell us about the Western colonial war in Gaza
Middle East Eye journalist Joe Gill discusses the enduring relevance of Frantz Fanon's "The Wretched of the Earth" to the current crisis in Gaza.

Born in colonial Martinique, Fanon became increasingly disillusioned with the pervasive racism he faced in his life and work, leading him to Algeria where he became a strong supporter of the fight for independence from France. He wrote a number of seminal works on the psychology of racial domination and the struggle for freedom.

In this video, Gill highlights how reading Fanon today, more than 60 years after his death, strikingly echoes the struggles of Palestinians under Israeli settler colonialism, particularly in terms of the violence deployed by the army of settlers and the dehumanization it inflicts on the colonized.
