What you need to know BEFORE starting a KETO diet for mental health
Nutritional ketosis, or the keto diet, could help improve symptoms of mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and more. But please don't start a keto diet to treat mental illness without first understanding the common pitfalls and risks. A keto diet changes physiology in ways that could potentially initially worsen symptoms of mental illness. These alterations are usually short-lived, but it is important to manage them carefully, preferably under the guidance of a clinician.
