When a BF-109 sliced through a B-17
The All American, which was flying over the Tunisian sky, was practically split in two by a BF-109. A testament to the hardiness of these birds is that this one continued to fly and brought the entire crew safely back to Biskra Air Base. Over the years, many versions of this story have been enriched with untruths. We tried to stick to the facts for this one, leaving aside embellishments such as lashing parachutes to hold the tail in place and lies such as landing in England over 2000 miles away! We think it's an incredible story with just the facts.
