Tim Winton is a dreamer and a wanderer. He invents stories and drifts between reality and imagination. He lives in one of the most remote and spectacular areas of Australia. And he is one of the most promising young writers in this country. Not that he had “author” written all over him. He's a shorts-and-flip-flops kind of guy, and he writes about real Australia, real Australians. and this applies to his books for children, as well as those for adults. His tenth book, a gem called “Cloudstreet,” is in the running for the Booker Prize – the Oscars of fiction writing.
